Join a Landmark Project to Reshape Karachi’s Urban Infrastructure

This is a unique opportunity to become part of the Karachi Water & Sewerage Services Improvement Project (KWSSIP), a transformative initiative set to overhaul one of the city’s most critical public services. Backed by the World Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), this large-scale project aims to address Karachi’s long-standing water and sewerage challenges through major infrastructure upgrades and institutional reforms. The Project Implementation Unit (PIU) is seeking top-tier professionals to fill crucial consultancy roles, offering a chance to contribute to a high-impact project that will improve the quality of life for millions.

The Procurement and Contract Management Specialist positions are at the core of the project’s operational integrity. In this role, you will be responsible for navigating the complex landscape of public procurement under the stringent guidelines of the World Bank. This involves managing high-value contracts for works, goods, and services, from the initial Expression of Interest (EOI) and tendering stages to meticulous contract administration and closure. Your expertise will ensure that all procurement activities are conducted with the utmost transparency, efficiency, and fairness, safeguarding the project’s financial resources and delivering value for money. This is a senior role for professionals who can strategically manage a complex supply chain for a multi-billion rupee infrastructure endeavor.

Equally critical is the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Specialist. As the project involves extensive construction and civil works across a dense urban environment, ensuring the well-being of the workforce and the public is paramount. This specialist will be the project’s conscience, tasked with developing and enforcing a robust Health and Safety Management System that aligns with IFC Performance Standards and national regulations. Your responsibilities will include conducting risk assessments, implementing safety protocols on construction sites, and ensuring that all contractors adhere to strict environmental and social (E&S) compliance requirements. This is a vital role for a professional dedicated to creating a zero-harm work environment on a project of national importance. Supporting these functions, the Procurement Assistant will be essential in maintaining the meticulous documentation and process flow required for international donor-funded projects, ensuring audit-readiness and operational smoothness. Joining KWSSIP means placing yourself at the forefront of urban renewal in Pakistan.
