National Insurance Company Limited (NICL), a major public sector enterprise under the Government of Pakistan and a leading name in General Insurance, is hiring qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) on a retainership basis. The positions are based at NICL’s Head Office in Karachi and Zonal Office in Islamabad.

35 to 45 years (Age relaxation as per government rules may apply)

Qualification & Experience

• Qualification: MBBS from a recognized institution (must be HEC verified). FCPS will be considered an added advantage.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience including house job in general medicine. Candidates with at least 3 years of experience in tertiary care/hospital settings will be preferred.

Contract Tenure & Employment Terms

• Engagement will be purely on a Retainership Basis.
• Initial tenure of 3 years, which may be extended based on performance and organizational requirements.
• This is not a permanent, contractual, or contingent employment. The CMO’s remuneration will be classified under medical/administrative expenses.
• Either party may terminate the retainership agreement with one month’s notice or payment in lieu of the notice.

Roles & Responsibilities

The Chief Medical Officer will be expected to:

• Provide on-site presence for 5 hours daily (between 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM) on all working days.
• Attend emergency cases for NICL employees and dependents.
• Examine and refer employees to hospitals or specialists as necessary.
• Visit admitted patients in various hospitals to monitor proper treatment.
• Scrutinize and approve medical bills from hospitals, chemists, and employees.
• Conduct medical assessments for new recruits.
• Examine and manage chronic disease cases.
• Manage the company’s medical facilities and ensure cost control.
• Provide medical advice as assigned by the management.
• CMO Karachi will also oversee health affairs of NICL’s South Zone offices.
• CMO Islamabad will also manage matters for North Zone offices.
• Be available telephonically after office hours for emergencies.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must have an MBBS degree verified by HEC and recognized by PMDC.
• Should submit an affidavit (on Rs. 100/- legal paper) declaring that the applicant has not been blacklisted by any government/semi-government/autonomous body.
• Both male and female candidates are encouraged to apply.
• Preference will be given to candidates with tertiary care hospital experience.
